Prior to coaching the Western Mass Junior Pioneers Coach Rickson was the Varsity Coach at Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School from 2004-2009. Previous to his varsity experience he was the junior varsity coach for three years. As varsity coach, Matthew led his team to the Western Mass quarter-finals for the first time in Pathfinder’s history. Under his direction Pathfinder was the Tri-County Briggs Division League Champion with a record of 14-5-1. Coach Rickson’s team has received the MIAA State Sportsmanship Award in 2006 and 2008. Also under his guidance Pathfinder also received the Pioneer Valley Referee Associations Sportsmanship award for two consecutive years, in 2007 and 2008.
Coach Rickson also serves on the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Board of Directors-Midland Area as the Sportsmanship Director. He has also served as the President of Warren Community Youth Soccer for six years. Matthew has been involved in coaching for 25 years. He has coached both boys and girls from the ages of 6 to 18 in both indoor and outdoor venues.
Matthew is currently employed at Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School as an Instructor of Carpentry. He is married with three children.
